Light Beer

December 3, 2008 at 5:12 am (1)

This holiday season swap out your heavy budweiser for a lighter, less filling beer. Shed your calories the easy way by endulging on bud light. Budweiser contains 145 calories whereas BudLight contains 110 calories. So, if you’re a heavy drinker, this might really really help you out.

Football

November 28, 2008 at 1:29 am (1)

After watching football day after day I see that most physical activities besides running are really a lot of fun. Running is hard and tiring and just plain boring and I envy all those guys out there running around throwing a football and slamming into each other. Even when it’s freezing cold outside and the snow is coming down they play hard and never give up despite the weather. I can’t see a runner giving 110% under those conditions.

Weightless Training

November 26, 2008 at 4:00 am (1)

My boyfriend has recently gotten very obsessed with weightless training. He says it’s easier to do because you don’t have to leave your home to get a good workout. He ranges his exercises from squats, crunches, pull-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, leg raises, and hyperextensions. I think he’s got a good idea by doing this because it really isn’t fun going out into the cold weather to get to the recreation. It’s a free exercise routine and you can do it whenever or wherever you want.

Addicted to Chapstick

November 18, 2008 at 8:04 am (1)

Many people claim to be addicted to chapstick. I kind of think I am one of those people. I must wear chapstick every night when I go to sleep and even wake up in the middle of the night to apply more. I probably use it once or twice a day when it gets cold. My boyfriend however has hardly ever used chapstick and thinks i am crazy. He claims that his lips are tougher than mine because he hasn’t ever used chapstick and that I’m setting my lips up for failure. I’ve read on some medical website and the doctors claim that chapstick isn’t addictive, but that dry lips are something people are constantly thinking about because we lick them so often. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without chapstick though.

Once the cold hit

November 17, 2008 at 2:46 am (1)

I feel so ashamed of myself. Once it got cold out I stopped working out. I didn’t want to run outside anymore and I was too lazy to walk to the rec. Even though we have a pretty nice deal and can go to the rec for free and exercise as much as we want. I just got lazy and wanted to stay inside and watch movies and eat. I’ve noticed a difference in my weight since I stopped working out but i’m as worried about it as I should be. I’ve never been heavier weight all my life and for the first time I have to start worrying about it. But I’m going to choose not to for the time being and enjoy the winter weather.

Smart Cycle

November 14, 2008 at 10:12 am (1)

This year Fisher Price has come up with a new way to keep toddlers healthy and fit. Although toddler obesity is not as common as adult obesity it is still becoming a problem in American today. The Fisher Price Smart Cycle is just one example I have seen that uses educational fun and combines it with physical activity. With a nation very obsessed with educational video games and learning at a young age, this toy seems pretty perfect.

Obama promises

November 5, 2008 at 12:37 pm (1)

Many Americans are looking forward to Barack Obama taking office this coming January because of his promises to better health care. Health care has been an issue in this country that has made citizens suffer through their lives because they don’t have the money to afford it. Now that Obama has won the 2008 presidential election he has promised to make changes in the health care system which will provide coverage to millions of uninsured Americans. He has mentioned over and over again that reforms in health care coverage will lower the average family’s health insurance premiums by about $2,500 each year.

Celebrating

October 27, 2008 at 5:42 am (1)

On days when you know you’re going to be drinking heavily I found that eating a good healthy meal before hand usually helps you out later that night. Celebrating my friends 21st birthday showed me that I really didn’t prepare for the night ahead of me. Refraining from eating a normal sized meal before we started drinking that night wasn’t the best idea for two reasons. I had nothing in my stomach and therefore the alcohol got to me quicker than usual and not eating dinner was just unhealthy in general. As the night went on of course we all got hungry and ended up splurging and eating way more than we ever should have.

Candy Corn

October 26, 2008 at 2:17 am (1)

With the Halloween holiday coming up all the stores are bringing out the bags and bags and full of teeth-rotting, calorie-infested candy. Although many doctors and dentists will say that eating a lot of candy is bad for you, kids teens everywhere throw caution to the wind and inhale tons of it anyways. This year, since I’m too old to be going trick or treating I doubt I’ll eat half as much candy as I used to. However I doubt it makes that much difference in my health.

The Sun Maid Raisins recieved the FITNESS Healthy Food Award in 2008 and there are many good reasons why. For one, it means that Sun Maid Raisins meet the criteria as a healthy, nutritious food. Researches have also proven that raisins rank among the top antioxidant foods. This means that raisins can help slow the processes of aging in the body and the brain.
